Embracing the Transitory

I was looking at a vase of tulips reaching out to the winter sun. I was feeling worried, pressured, upset, but then I saw the tulips and for a moment I was "with" them, just admiring their beauty, the process of their bloom, the flowers changing with the light, still growing even though cut.

How lucky to have tulips in December. I stopped and breathed them in. I wanted to enjoy them now because they will soon be spent. And knowing they will pass heightens my appreciation of my own now.

All this is temporary. It will end. Breathe deep. Breathe in life. Connect to life, like a prayer.
